Dear Fair Housing Advocates,

As you may be aware, New York City Mayor Adams recently announced a new zoning reform proposal called “City of Yes for Housing Opportunity.” The proposal aims to address the current housing crisis by allowing for the construction of more housing in every neighborhood.

The FHJC has released preliminary comments on the City of Yes initiative. We believe that the City should conduct a thorough analysis of its plans and ensure that all aspects of the initiative are designed and implemented in compliance with its legal obligation to affirmatively further fair housing.

In the statement, we urge the City to take these steps to ensure that the City of Yes initiative is fair and equitable for all City residents. Read the full letter here.

Sincerely yours,

Britny J. McKenzie, MSW (she/her)
